Lawn Vacuum Reviews - What You Need To Know Before You Buy

!±8± Lawn Vacuum Reviews - What You Need To Know Before You Buy

Today with so many choices in virtually every type of market, it's nice to be able to compare several makes and models right in one spot. That is the whole idea behind lawn vacuum reviews. You will find information on several brands of lawn and leaf vacuums to make it easier for you to compare price and features side by side.

There are many types of yard equipment you can get to help you out with your spring and fall cleanup. Some of them, blowers, will blow the leaves into piles to make it easier to gather them up. Some of them, the leaf vacuums, will actually act the same way as your household vacuum: they will suck them all up into a bag so you can dump them wherever you want them to be.

Of course, it can never be that easy, there are many more features to consider. There are different types of leaf vacuums. Some have elaborate hoses that attach to a big collection trailer that is hooked to your lawn tractor. These types of lawn vacuums are great if you have a big yard (and if you have a tractor).

The type of lawn vacuum reviews are geared around the push behind style of lawn vacuum. These are perfect for smaller yards and tighter spaces.

Here is a partial list of some of the features available:

1. Most models will at least have the option of getting a self propelled model. You may not necessarily like it though and it may not be worth the extra money.

A few years ago I borrowed a self propelled mower from a friend. I had never used a self propelled and I thought it would be a great time saver... not so much. I actually hated using it because my lawn is flat and I felt like I was running behind this thing trying to hold on for dear life even at the lowest speed. And even with the self propelled feature, it was quite a bit heavier than a non self propelled mower. Bottom line: I didn't like it and you may not either.

2. Many push behind lawn vacuums have an available hose kit. This acts the same way as the hose on your vacuum cleaner; you can use it to reach leaves that would be impossible to get with the main unit.

Anytime you have leaves underneath something like a deck or in a window well, this attachment will be helpful.

3. Many push behind models of lawn vacuum also have chipper shredders. This can be a huge help since you can also pick up twigs and small branches while vacuuming. Since everything is shredded into a fine mulch before it ends up in the collection bag, you don't have huge piles of leaves to deal with (like you would still have if you just used a blower to blow them into one spot). Instead, you have compost and already shredded organic matter that will be great for your lawn and garden.

Compare all the lawn vacuum reviews to find the best make and model for you and your yard.

5 Features That Will Cause You To Love Your Hedge Trimmer

!±8± 5 Features That Will Cause You To Love Your Hedge Trimmer

You know as you get older your mind slowly changes from a conquering mode to a more peaceful mode of just wanting to get the job done, in this case the hedge trimmed, without getting scared and scraped, with minimal effort and being able to have the strength to sit back and admire the job. In other words, working smarter not harder. That is accomplished by using tools that are user friendly, don't take all your strength to use and allow you to have fun doing the job. Here are 5 features a hedge trimmer must have to be user friendly.

1. The first thing I look for in a hedge trimmer is a tool that is light weight. Even today some hedge trimmers are still made the old fashioned way with the big vibrating snout that takes all your strength to maneuver and hold. As I said, I'm getting older and I don't want to wrestle with the hedge trimmer or any type of yard grooming tool for that matter. The tools for today should be user friendly and light weight to use for the older population. If the younger generation wants to prove how strong they are and impress those around them with their strength, let them. The only way I want to impress is with a well maintained yard.

2. Going right along with light weight is easy to use. In my yard I have this beautiful climbing rose bush about 7 foot tall that I need to get on a ladder to trim and shape. My old trimmer that had a snout like a sword fish used to vibrate so much it was hard to keep your balance, which meant I spent intimate time with the rose bush. Trust me, if it hasn't happened to you you don't want to fall into a rose bush. The rose bush always wins and I'll end up with cuts and scratches all over my arms. I want a trimmer that I can handle on a ladder safely and easily.

3. I don't want to be able to cut the cord with the trimmer blade. It's happened to me on several occasions that I have accidentally cut the cord with what I have been trimming. It's not only dangerous but I always feel stupid when it happens. My wife will just look at me and shake her all knowing head at my stupidity. Long nosed trimmers are noted for being able to cut their cord, and they do it quite easily so I want a trimmer that eliminates that threat. I want to win with no more cut cords and my wife's knowing approval.

4. Life is fun and deserves a trimmer that cleans up after itself. The worst thing about trimming that rose bush I was telling you about is the clean up after you're done trimming. Before I would need to get to a barrel to put the trimming pieces in and set it out for the yard waste truck. Then I would rake all the cuttings together and then to great peril to limbs I would put the trimming leftovers in the barrel. Pushing those clippings down into the barrel left my arms battle scared and bleeding. It wasn't the type of job I certainly looked forward to. Life is too short to go through life cut or maimed by hedge trimmer clippings.

5. The last thing I want in a hedge trimmer is I want it to be electric powered. I don't care if the gas powered ones are more powerful, I want to be able to breathe fresh air, not gas fumes. Electric power yard equipment is clean, environmentally friendly and easy to use. There's that phrase "easy to use" again, if you haven't guessed yet I'm definitely into "easy to use". I have lived a good life and fought countless battles but now that I approaching those "Golden Years" I just want simple and easy to use.

Well there you have my views on what to look for in a hedge trimmer. These are strictly my views, if you would like to embrace these views you need to do so at your own risk. Anyway that's my story and I'm definitely sticking to the "easy to use". There are hedge trimmers in all sizes and shapes. Some are monsters that wield a wide swath, shake, vibrate and take all your strength to master them. I'll leave those to others who want to conquer their yard work. Personally I want to be able to enjoy my yard after I'm done. So I'll settle for equipment that is "easy to use" and has the 5 features to look for in a hedge trimmer, giving you a great sense of satisfaction when you're done knowing that your yard and the hedges look great with a minimum of effort.

Why You Need a Zero Turn Lawn Mower

!±8± Why You Need a Zero Turn Lawn Mower

Your lawn should be a source of pride. It increases the curb appeal of your property. It provides a wonderful place for your family to enjoy the outdoors. It gives you a chance to show up the neighbors. However, most of us have better things to do than mow that lawn for hours, only to have to follow up with more time-consuming trimming.

The good news is you don't have to spend so much time on the chore if you invest in a zero turn lawn mower.

Zero Turn Lawn Mowers: Why they are Different

A zero turn lawn mower isn't like most types of mowers. In fact, it was not originally created for residential use. They were first developed for industrial use so they could efficiently cut large areas of grass without taking a lot of time. Eventually, homeowners began seeing the potential in making these same devices available for their needs.

The key improvement is the maneuverability of the zero turn lawn mower. Unlike traditional mowers, these mowers can easily turn around obstacles and cut the grass neatly without requiring you to do any additional trimming.

However, the name comes from the fact that the zero turn lawn mower's maneuverability allows it to make turns without leaving behind the patch of uncut grass you would get with other mowers.

Benefits of Zero Turn Lawn Mowers

Obviously, one of the biggest benefits of these mowers is that you're going to end up with a better looking lawn. Because you don't have to go back and do any trimming or re-cut patches of the lawn, your grass will have a more consistent look.

Another benefit is that you'll save a lot of time. You'll be able to cut your entire lawn without having to retrace your path or do additional trimming. Imagine how much time you can save by only having to run through your entire lawn on one single trip. Because your zero turn lawn mower makes the task a lot easier, you'll be more likely to cut the grass frequently and that will ensure that your lawn looks even more perfectly manicured.

Additionally, most zero turn lawn mowers were created not just for efficient mowing but also for comfort. You will find mowing your lawn is not nearly as difficult if you have a comfortable seat. Plus, you won't have to walk behind and push a mower through your grass. That's a huge relieve if you're the one responsible for keeping the lawn looking amazing.

Because of their roots in industrial applications, zero turn lawn mowers tend to be more reliable and require less maintenance. That means you won't have to lose time when the mower breaks down in the middle of a mow and you won't have to spend money on parts or repairs very often.

At the end of the day, if you want a gorgeous lawn then your best bet is to invest in a zero turn lawn mower. It's a piece of quality machinery that packs plenty of benefits you're sure to appreciate.
